Qualifications Researcher 1 - Neuroscience and Psychiatry Required Qualifications: * B.A./B.S. in Neuroscience or related field (e.g., biology, biochemistry, cell biology, chemistry, experimental psychology, etc.) or combination of education and experience to equal 4 years. * Experience with animal handling (mice), SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, Bradford assay, willingness to work with rodents, mouse breeding, weaning pups, euthanasia, collecting brain tissue for biochemical assays. About the Job A 75% effort (30 hours per week, full benefit eligibility) research technician position, available effective immediately in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences to investigate the molecular mechanisms of brain development in autism and Down's syndrome. This position will work inteh lab of Dr S Hossein Fatemi (https://med.umn.edu/bio/psychiatry/s-fatemi) Job Responsibilities: * (60%) Conduct research, brain dissection, gel electrophoresis, Western blot, preparation of protein lysate, Bradford assay, densitometric analysis, preparation for proteomics. * (20%) Mouse colony maintenance, breeding, weaning pups, and tracking animals. * (20%) Managerial duties, e.g., ordering chemicals, help PI prepare grants and papers (typing).
