The West Virginia University Research Corporation is seeking applications for an Addiction Research Scientist for the Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute (RNI). This position will work with the Clinical Translational Neuroscience program on human research focused on substance use disorder and the use of neuromodulation, wearable technology, and digital therapeutics. This position will work directly with the executive director of Clinical Translational Neuroscience.

In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
  • Work independently and/or with a research team to carry out applied human research projects focused on understanding and improving patients' outcomes.
  • Design and implementation of research projects as well as data analysis and reporting of the projects.
  • Utilize tools such as electrophysiological, neuromodulation, cognitive batteries, and subjective questionnaires to measures, assess, and improve the monitoring, assessment, and treatment of substance use disorder.
  • Master's degree in a science-related field OR an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
  • Use of electrophysiological devices (EEG, EMG, EDA, ECG, Eye tracking) as well as wearables.
  • Use of neuromodulation or other therapeutic devices used to substance use disorder.
  • Working with patients with addiction.
  • Conducting clinical translational human research projects.
  • Publishing and Presenting scientific reports.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Ability to create, annotate and maintain detailed records.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a computer utilizing various software packages, including creating spreadsheets, charts, graphs, etc.
  • Working knowledge of scientific research methods and Institutional Review Board policies and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively prepare and present information in one-on-one settings in addition to general scientific audiences, customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to conduct data analytics and preparation of reports.
  • Experience working on and submitting federal awards (NIH, NSF, DOD).
