Are you interested in science and understanding complex technologies?

Do you want to play a role in the development of commercialisation activities for the University?

You will support the University's early stage identification and review of intellectual property generated through our research activities. Working alongside a team of Commercialisation Managers, you will assist the commercialisation process by undertaking intellectual property (IP) searches and analysis of the market, customers and competitive landscape to inform both the initial assessment of commercial opportunities and any subsequent commercial exploitation strategy. You will prepare detailed reports to summarise findings and these will provide underpinning information for progression of opportunities.

You will have a scientific background and commercial experience in an innovation or research development capacity. You will also be able to build productive collaborative relationships and be committed to undertaking continuous professional development to maintain your skills and knowledge in competitive market research and technology analysis.

As a member of the Commercialisation Team you will play a role in the development of commercialisation activities in one of the largest research intensive universities in the UK. The University typically has a portfolio of around 30 spinout companies in addition to a significant portfolio of technology licences. To accelerate the impact of its leading research the University also manages sizeable development and investment funds.

The University has placed innovation and impact as a key objective in an ambitious institutional strategy. In line with this we are working to ensure we can fully realise the potential impact of our research by embedding commercialisation support into different stages of our research, impact and innovation activities.
