The role
We seek an enthusiastic Technician to provide support for all aspects of organic geochemical analyses to join the team of Dr B.D.A. Naafs at the Organic Geochemistry Unit, University of Bristol.
What will you be doing?
Tasks will include: preparation of samples for analysis (solvent extraction, chromatographic separation, derivatisation), operation of analytical instrumentation (GC, GC-M, LC-MS, and GC-C-IRMS), safe handling of chemicals, safe storage and waste disposal. The technical support is essential in achieving the goals of a Royal Society Funded project.

You should apply if
Essential criteria include:
- Relevant qualifications at GCSE, or NVQ level 2/3, or equivalent level, plus relevant work experience; or significant relevant work experience; or relevant BSc and MSc.
- Experience of working in a dynamic laboratory
- A basic understanding of organic chemistry
- Ability to complete given tasks with minimum supervision and to multitask with a range of laboratory equipment and procedures
- Knowledge of good laboratory practice and safety
