0.2 FTE fixed term contract available until December 2021, with the potential for extension.

An exciting part time Lecturer position is available in Port Augusta and will be responsible for supporting the student learning for Year 5 Rural Cohort students through the provision of clinical supervision and clinical teaching.

This opportunity contributes to weekly tutorials in the discipline of your specialty and to work-based assessment of students on clinical placement. You will also be involved in the preparation of exam questions and assessments in the medical course as they relate to the curriculum.

Participation in the preparation and delivery of formative and summative exams including the midyear workshop and at the end of each year will be required. You will also contribute to the broader Adelaide Rural Clinical School (ARCS) agenda of recruiting, supporting and mentoring the next generation of rural health professionals, including medical students and junior doctors based in the region.

The clinical academic must provide clinical paediatric services at Pt Augusta hospital.

To be successful at Level B you will need:
  • Current Medical Registration with AHPRA.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Paediatrics and currently working clinically in this specialty in the ARCS rural footprint.
  • Demonstrated experience in medical education or equivalent experience in clinical teaching of medical students.
  • Demonstrate commitment to working with Aboriginal staff, students and health professionals to close the gap in health and educational outcomes.
  • Capacity to participate in formal teaching and clinical assessment of medical students.

In addition to the above, to be successful at Level C you will also need:
  • A PhD qualification or significant progress towards a PhD in a relevant area.
  • Demonstrated experience in medical education or equivalent experience in clinical teaching of medical student
  • A record of scholarly and professional achievement in the relevant discipline area
