Fixed-term position available for 12 months

Make significant contributions to the state-of-the-art Modelling of materials used for Solid-State Quantum Sensors

Working in close collaboration with our research partners from the industry and government sector and other research providers to develop next-generation of Solid-State Quantum Sensors. This position is particularly focused on research on inventing new knowledge and tools for the optimisation of materials used for ultra-high-performance sensors of E-M fields.

You will be expected to carry out research and development activities that would have a significant impact on our industry collaborators' abilities to design, evaluate, deploy, and operate quantum sensing devices. This position also presents several opportunities to engage and collaborate with our international collaborators in Europe and the USA.

To be successful at Level A you will need:
  • PhD in Physics or in Electronic Engineering.
  • Demonstrated research capability in condensed matter physics applied to the study of superconducting and semiconducting device systems.
  • Demonstrated publication track record in leading scientific journals and conferences.
  • Finite Element Analysis and/or Finite Difference Time Domain modelling using sophisticated packages such as COMSOL or CST such as for FEM Electromagnetics capabilities or fluid mechanics FEM capabilities.
  • Experience in the modelling of electronics devices and in electronic design and fabrication.

In addition to the above to be successful at Level B, you will also need:
  • Successful track record of securing research funding from ARC and or industry sources.

The appointment to this role is subject to a National Police Check and a requirement to obtain and maintain a baseline Australian Government security clearance. This requires that the candidate be an Australian Citizen.
