Contribute to research projects developing novel methods for resilient and antifragile wireless networks.

The School of Computer Science is seeking to recruit a Grant-Funded Researcher at Level B in programmable networks.

Join a multi-disciplinary team of defence, networking, AI, and mathematic researchers to develop and investigate new approaches for; a fully programmable infrastructure for defence networks that are compatible with old and new defence bearers; harnessing the diversity provided by multiple bearers and multiple domains to build networks that dynamically and securely adapt to changing environment with machine learning-based traffic control and antifragile programmable networks: Applying machine learning and artificial intelligence to build networks that are not only robust to changes but also improve with external and internal stressors.

The successful applicant will work closely on theoretical and algorithm development and implementation, assist in dissemination (project deliverables, publications, etc) across multiple related projects. You will have a strong work ethic and the ability to work well independently and as a member of a broader team. You will work closely with collaborators and co-investigators across multiple schools within ECMS. You will also be fluent in written and spoken English, with an ability to communicate scientific ideas to an expert audience, both orally and in writing.

To be successful you will need:
  • To have or about to complete a PhD in computer science or related fields such as mathematics, electrical and electronic engineering, and physics.
  • To be eligible to hold a Commonwealth of Australia Department of Defence security clearance as defined at https://www1.defence.gov.au/security/clearances/about/vetting-assessment .
  • Demonstrated ability in conducting and publishing high-quality research on one or more of the topics related to software-defined networking, admission and congestion control in wireless networks, and machine learning for networks.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with empirical research in software-defined networking.
  • Commitment to the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion and ability to contribute to the diversity of the School community.
