Full time starting salary is normally in the range £27,511 to £30,046, with potential progression once in post to £33,797.

Job summary

To support the quality assurance of education provision for all students within a specific College, that the student voice is understood and will add value to their experience of the University of Birmingham and their programme of study, and will provide robust assurance that internal and external standards have been met.
This role has two primary areas to which it provides operational support, the clinical education monitoring visit activity across healthcare provision in the College and the student evaluation process.
The post will take a lead project support role in ensuring that two programmes are prepared for, and engage effectively with, the new regulatory requirements of the General Medical Council.

Main duties

• Understand student opinion to inform the enhancement of the education provision, delivered both on and off the Edgbaston campus. This is will be through operation of the College's student evaluation processes, including evaluation of NHS placements.
• Deliver the programme of Clinical Education Monitoring visit activity, preparing visit paperwork, managing the visit and writing the confirmed report of the visits, ensuring that relevant issues are identified and summarised to provide assurance that standards have been achieved and that risks have been correctly identified.
• Facilitate and support a number of School QA committees to foster and develop an interactive community of academic and professional services staff that is inclusive and supportive, and provides robust governance in relation to quality assurance and maintenance of standards.
• Provide lead operational project support to ensure that two programmes are prepared for the new regulation by the General Medical Council, looking across provision to identify efficiencies and scaleability of processes or introducing new processes where appropriate
• Share communications and act as a key conduit to academic and professional services staff to ensure that everyone is well-informed and understands quality assurance requirements.
• Contribute to the School or College plan, to ensure quality assurance is a prime consideration underpinning the School or College's approach.
• Promotes equality and values diversity acting as a role model and fostering an inclusive working culture.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience

• Qualified to UK level 5 (e.g. Foundation degree, HND) or equivalent
• Relevant experience of working in Higher Education
• Understanding of the institutional structures and ways of working in a College or School
• Strong understanding of quality assurance processes
• Knowledge of student evaluation processes
• Knowledge and experience of servicing committees or reviews
• Knowledge and experience of communications
• Working knowledge of standard Microsoft Office software
• Knowledge of the protected characteristics of the Equality Act 2010, and how to actively ensure in day to day activity in own area that those with protected characteristics are treated equally and fairly.
