A Postdoctoral Fellow Position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Tijana Jovanovic-Talisman. Biological nanoparticles that are continuously shed by cells - namely extracellular vesicles (EVs) - are an emerging and exciting strategy for performing minimally invasive diagnoses.

We seek a Postdoctoral Fellow with experience in cell biology and quantitative microscopy. Because EVs are loaded with disease specific molecules, they represent an excellent source of biomarkers. The project will develop and apply super-resolution microscopy methods to characterize EVs and their content. Specifically, super-resolution imaging will be used to characterize EVs from heart, brain, and immune cells. The approach will be also used to quantify a subpopulation of EVs associated with disease. Ultimately, the goal is to develop a new platform to perform molecular level diagnoses for precision medicine.

Key Responsibilities include:

The Postdoctoral Fellow will purify and manipulate EVs from cultured cells and plasma, perform imaging experiments using single molecule localization microscopy, and complete data analysis to characterize molecular content of extracellular vesicles.

Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:

A Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Sciences, Biophysics, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline is required with no more than 4 years of postdoctoral training.
Experience in quantitative microscopy and cell biology.
Ability to carry out independent research and prepare manuscripts for publication.
Experience with super-resolution microscopy, extracellular vesicles, and MATLAB programing is preferred.
