A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available at City of Hope, one of a prestigious group of NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers. The successful applicant will join a highly competitive research lab to investigate molecular mechanisms underlying transcriptional control and cell signaling during the course of cancer initiation and progression. Specifically, the applicant will use "cutting-edge" and unbiased in vitro biological approaches and unique and innovative genetically engineered mouse models to uncover gene-expression and genomic and epigenetic alterations that regulate oncogenic transformation and other cellular events in tumorigenesis.
Key Responsibilities include:
The successful applicant will investigate steroid hormone action, transcriptional control, and cell signaling in development and tumorigenesis.
The Fellow will develop and use novel and advanced biological approaches, and genetically engineered mouse models to uncover gene-expression and genomic and epigenetic alterations in cancer initiating cells in order to understand mechanisms underlying tumor initiation, progression, and metastasis.
Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:
Ph.D. or M.D/Ph.D. degree in Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or a related field.
A proven track record of creativity and productivity.
Highly self-motivated, strong desire to learn, and have excellent communication skills.
Previous experience with mouse models of human diseases, cancer biology, molecular biology, or genetics is highly desired, but not required.
