Primary Purpose:
Serves as the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs RVUCOM with the responsibility for academic and faculty matters on both Colorado and Utah campuses. The individual is accountable for key areas relating to RVUCOM including, but not limited to: fulfilling the mission and vision of the COM educational programs, strategic planning, department budget and expenditures, educational outcomes, program review and accreditation, creative activity, quality assessment, policies and procedures, compliance with external requirements.Reports to the Dean of RVUCOM. Direct Reports include: The Assistant Dean of Preclinical Curriculum, Assistant Dean of Program Assessment, COM Academic Department Chairs, and the Administrative Assistant report to this position.

Essential Job Functions:
Primary responsibility for the COMs core educational programs, includingadvancing curricular design and delivery methods, and updating curricularcontent.Directly supervise the Chairs of COM Academic departments, the AssistantDean of Curriculum, and the Assistant Dean of Program Assessment, and anadministrative assistant.Facilitate communication and collaboration between the Utah andColorado campuses.Build a culture that respects, values and promotes diversity by recruiting, hiring and retaining diverse talent within an atmosphere of access, equity and inclusion.Provide leadership for faculty on both the Utah and Colorado campuses.Provide leadership to the Chairs of the academic departments, includingregular meetings and leadership development.Work collaboratively with the Associate Dean of Clinical Education todevelop a seamless, integrated educational experience OMS1-4.Conduct evaluation and final approval of the COM curricula in conjunctionwith the COM Dean.Development of the budget for the Preclinical department.Work with the Dean and other COM and University leaders to ensure that theCOM meets accreditation standards and requirements set by various accrediting bodies, regional or specialized; ensures compliance with local, state and federal law.Maintain the Universitys commitments to academic freedom, integrity, ethics, as well as its commitment to excellence and integration of osteopathic philosophy and principles in all of the COMs teaching, research, and service programs.Provide leadership for the faculty in COM program assessment, includingfaculty development in course, curriculum, and assessment mapping.Teaching and clinical responsibilities as necessary and/or as indicated.

Minimum Qualifications:
D.O. degree from an American Osteopathic Association-Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (AOA-COCA) accredited College of Osteopathic Medicine.License to practice osteopathic medicine from a state, to remain current and have always been in good standing.Board Certification from of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) orAmerican Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), to remain current and in good standing during service.At least 8 years of experience in medical education, including supervising faculty, successfully educating medical students, and at least 5 years in positions such as a Dean, Assistant or Associate Dean, or full time Chair of a Clinical Department at a College of Osteopathic Medicine.Agreement not to undertake employment outside of the COM while employed as Senior Associate Dean at RVUCOM.

Preferred Qualifications:
