The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as on a team. Interest and prior experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred: Angelman syndrome, Rett syndrome, and/or other rare genetic conditions; quantitative analysis; outcome measure development or psychometric validation; genetic/genomic data analysis; demonstrated expertise in a range of research methods; and a career focus on research and publication in peer-reviewed journals.

Responsibilities
• Work with the Principal Investigators to coordinate multiple projects focused on Angelman, Rett, and other neurogenetic conditions.
• Lead or play a major role in analyzing secondary data and/or working with a statistician to analyze secondary data
• Lead the writing of peer-reviewed articles.
• Lead or play a major role in preparing and submitting grant applications for new projects.
• Collaborate with other RTI researchers to provide research support (including methodological or subject matter expertise) for other projects focusing on rare and complex genetic diseases, and children with disabilities and their families.
• Prepare and deliver presentations at RTI and at state and national meetings.
• Establish personal goals and activities to build a successful research career path.

Qualifications
• Ph.D. (or MA/MS with demonstrated research experience) in special education, psychology, genetics, allied health, nursing, public health, or other related fields; training must be in a research-oriented program.
• Strong background in genetics or disability research, including interest and expertise in one or more causes of intellectual or developmental disability.
• A minimum of 2 years of related experience (inclusive of graduate school) with primary focus on research experience.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated ability to publish in peer-reviewed journals.
• Preference will be given to candidates with experience/training in quantitative statistical analysis.
• Ability to manage competing tasks and priorities.
• Ability to work independently and with cross disciplinary teams, and to establish and maintain good working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, and clients.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require now, or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status.

The anticipated pay range for this role is between $85,000 - $105,000.
