The Center for Policing Research and Investigative Science (CPRIS) has an opening for a Senior Justice and Behavioral Health Researcher to develop, lead, and contribute to research and technical assistance projects focused on law enforcement and other first responder crisis response. Research topics may include law enforcement diversion programs for people who use drugs and those with mental health challenges, law enforcement and public health co-response crisis models, high 911 utilizer interventions, Crisis Intervention Teams in policing and other first responder programs and initiatives, and other related topics. This position will contribute to business development and scientific stature in these areas and to the overall portfolio of work in CPRIS.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Contribute to project growth and business development by leading proposals and significantly contributing to writing and developing proposals related to crisis response approaches in policing, first responders, and other public safety agencies.
Lead projects and complex tasks on projects.
Manage project budgets in collaboration with financial analysts.
Communicate effectively with clients to plan and execute programs and evaluations that meet clients needs and fulfil contractual requirements.
Lead quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis tasks.
Manage quality control processes for projects/tasks to ensure delivery of first-rate work products.
Lead the development of project deliverables in collaboration with the client and RTI project team, including reports, briefs, infographics, manuscripts, guidance documents, and recommendations for clients funded programs. 
This position can be located at our headquarters location in Research Triangle Park, NC. Other regional offices or teleworking from any location is also an available option.

Minimum Qualifications: 

PhD in sociology, criminology, public health, social work, or other related degree.
At least eight years of relevant experience researching or evaluating behavioral health, policing, and criminal justice issues.
Demonstrated track record of securing and completing federal and foundation-funded grants.
Experience with quantitative analysis software (SAS, SPSS, STATA, or R).
Ability to manage projects; including staffing, scheduling, and budget.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with demonstrated capability to present work at national conferences and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with staff in different geographic locations and with a range of education and experience levels.
To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require, now or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience conducting research or applied projects focused on multidisciplinary response models to persistent and emerging safety and justice issues, including research or applied projects focused on racial or community justice.
Experience with qualitative analysis software (e.g., NVivo).
Experience conducting randomized controlled trials (RCTs).
