The ideal candidate is expected to be an independent scientist with significant previous experience in a pharmaceutical company, or academic/non-profit setting at a senior level. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in neuropharmacology, respiratory pharmacology, behavioral pharmacology, cardiometabolic diseases, or surgical disease models. This position is located at our headquarters in Research Triangle Park, NC.

Responsibilities:

Perform research and contract activities related to research domain expertise
Supervise and mentor junior scientists and serve as a technical area expert
Attract federal and commercial grants/contracts as principal investigator
Assist with ongoing projects through collaborative research as appropriate
Communicate research findings through peer-reviewed publications and participation in scientific meetings

Qualifications:

PhD, MD, or DVM with postdoctoral experience in pharmacology, toxicology, biology, biochemistry, pharmaceutical science, physiology, chemistry, or a related field
7+ years of directly reted experience
Experience or interest in drug discovery and development
Able to manage collaborations and build strong relationships with peers and clients
Must be a strong writer with excellent communication skills
Able to develop and sustain an extramurally funded research program

Preferred:
5+ years of senior level experience as principal investigator, study director, or similar is preferred
