The College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management (HRSM) at the University of South Carolina (Columbia, SC) invites applications for a 9-month full-time professional track (non-tenure) Clinical Instructor to teach the Marnie Pierce Professionalism Seminar. The seminar is taught to a cross section of majors inside the college and focuses on a holistic approach to developing professional skills for the contemporary workplace (e.g., preparing a personal marketing plan, interview skills, professional communication, and other skills needed for success). The University of South Carolina (UofSC), founded in 1801, is an eight-campus state system, with a total enrollment of over 52,000 students. The main campus in Columbia has a student population of approximately 35,000, is categorized by the Carnegie Foundation as having "very high research activity" and excellent curricular community engagement. The College of HRSM is one of the largest on UofSC's main campus and has three academic divisions: The Department of Retailing, The School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management, and the Department of Sport and Entertainment Management; it has over 100 full time faculty and staff and 2500 students. Required Qualifications: Earned master's degree in the teaching discipline (business, career counseling, communications, or related) or at least a master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline; a demonstrated ability to deliver high quality classroom instruction; at least 2 years work experience in career services, career advising, human resources, or related managerial duties aligned with the course curriculum.

Position Responsibilities: Serve as the primary instructor the Professional Development Seminar, teaching the equivalent of 4 courses per academic term (courses are a cross section of academic majors in the college); develop relationships with industry partners in hospitality, tourism, retail, sport management and entertainment to enhance program offerings and achieve college objectives for the seminar; Provide course-related mentoring and guidance to students in the college; collaborate with other college faculty and staff in support of the college's general mission; Serve on Department, College, or University committees as needed.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Initial review of applicants will commence October 4, 2021 and continue until the position is filled.
