Responsibilities of the individual who holds this position will include teaching undergraduate courses in subjects such as apparel design and construction, patternmaking, illustration, design internship, and studio design classes. These courses support the undergraduate degree in Apparel Design and Product Development. The clinical component of this position includes mentoring of students in professional development and supervision of field-based internship placements. This individual will engage in curriculum assessment and development, scholarly activities related to the field, and engage in industry networking. University, community and professional service is expected.

Outstanding candidates are invited to apply for a clinical faculty position in Apparel Design and Product Development. Candidates for the clinical position must have earned a master's degree or higher in Apparel Design, Product Development, or a directly related field. The candidate must have a demonstrated record of effectiveness in teaching in apparel design and construction, including illustration and one or more of the following areas: flat pattern, technical design, fit, or functional design. The clinical candidate should have demonstrated experience in the design or production industry and must exhibit a collaborative working style (strong communication and interpersonal skills) with faculty and students . Following are desirable qualifications: Ph.D. or MFA in Design, Product Development or a directly related field; evidence of successful teaching experience in higher education; supervision of students in field-based internship settings; background in collaborative design, exhibition or scholarship; and practitioner experience in the industry.
