Associate Scientist/Sr. Associate Scientist - Mammalian Expression Core, Protein Sciences
We are seeking a highly motivated individual with solid tissue culture expertise to join the mammalian protein expression core team. The successful candidate will join our team to conduct scale-up protein production from hybridoma culture, transient transfection and/or stable cell line to support ongoing and novel target discovery in our biologics pipeline. The candidate will be responsible for weekly maintenance of multiple cell lines, execution of mammalian transfection in multiple platforms and management of cell culture consumable inventory. He/She will be part of the team effort in advancing our technology platform in mammalian expression core function. The candidate should have in-depth knowledge of operating WAVE Bioreactor or Single Use Bioreactor system. Experience in optimizing challenging target expression as well as unconventional IgG like biologic molecule is a plus. The candidate is responsible to optimize current protocols and develop new processes to achieve high productivities and qualities of recombinant protein to support multiple projects in parallel. Experience in automation to achieve high throughput expression platform is preferred. Strong organization skills and multi-tasking ability in a fast-paced team is a must.
- Independently designs, executes and characterizes mammalian cell culture process to express multiple targets to meet project need with minimal supervision.
- Performs systematic analysis of quality of expressed protein with appropriate techniques such as Octet, SDS-PAGE, HPLC, western blot etc.
- Independently employ relevant instruments , e.g. FACS, to characterize protein expression when appropriate.
- Provides expertise to recommend alternative strategy to resolve expression issues of challenging molecular formats.
- Conduct stable cell line generation using conventional and/or novel strategy to support screening effort and enhance our protein production capacity.
- Prepare and deliver scientific presentations to project teams to update findings.
- Proactively develop and update SOP to advance team processes.
- Work collaboratively with team to provide pertinent support for fulfilling team function.
