Specialized Faculty (Open Rank, Non-Tenure Track) School of Social Work University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign School of Social Work invites applications for a full-time specialized faculty position (i.e., non-tenure track) with a focus on teaching and associated administrative and service activities. We seek a talented and innovative educator who will be primarily responsible for teaching and curriculum development for the School's Leadership and Social Change (LSC) concentration in the Master of Social Work (MSW) program. The LSC concentration prepares students for macro-level advanced social work practice that emphasizes social change both within social service agencies and through public policy and advocacy. This concentration focuses on changing larger social systems, such as communities, organizations and/or policy. It includes a broad spectrum of macro practice areas such as program planning, nonprofit management, social entrepreneurship, community organizing and development, policy analysis, legislative advocacy, and program evaluation. The LSC curriculum also incorporates international social work content.

The School of Social Work is a freestanding unit renowned for its achievements in research, teaching, and community engagement. We have extensive well-developed partnerships with state and community-based agencies that provide fertile networks for research and teaching development. The School is committed to developing and disseminating knowledge for practice, with special emphasis on identifying the needs of vulnerable and disenfranchised groups, developing responsive social welfare programs, and promoting social and economic justice. Our MSW degree program prepares students for advanced social work practice in public and private agencies, in the areas of mental health, health care, children and family services, public school settings, and leadership and social change. It has expanded rapidly in recent years, and now includes hybrid options with teaching opportunities on our campus, in Chicago, and online.
