Job Description
PRIMARY PURPOSE:

At Medscope we are passionate about developing innovative, groundbreaking tests, products and tools to enhance patient care, provide value to our clients, and transform information into knowledge and insights. Most providers are monitored by the FDA to ensure patients are being prescribed and taking medications, as necessary. To ensure the efficiency of accuracy our lab Medscope Laboratories, LLC is certified through CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvements Amendments), COLA, and APSI (American Proficiency Testing Service)

Our Lab Assistant position performs a variety of record keeping duties and prepares routine specimens and performs ancillary tasks to support UDS testing. Lab Assistant must work with other team members to ensure timely, quality, test results.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs all assigned duties in compliance based off CLIA and external regulations. Brings compliance issues to the attention of management.

Assures quality customer service to all provider offices and patients.

Unpacks and sorts samples based on external customers insurance demographics.

Accessions samples received for testing. Identifies unacceptable or missing samples, labels, or paperwork. Reports all discrepancies to the supervisor and assists with resolution.

Performs daily data entry.

Orders and maintains ALL laboratory reagents and supplies.

Communicates pertinent information to customers, as directed.

Assists with maintaining the cleanliness of equipment and work areas.

Packs and ships supplies and/or specimens.

Assists in scheduling bio-waste of specimens.

Performs receipt and preparation of samples, as directed.

Drives personal vehicle to make deliveries and/or Urgent pickups.

**Performs personal assistant like duties of laboratory owner. ie. opening mail, making bank deposits, deliveries, scanning and making phone calls at the discretion of management, as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge/Education

High School graduate or GED required.

Licenses/ Certifications

Valid in-state driver's license required.

Experience

One year related experience required.

Two years of medical insurance knowledge preferred.

Three years of MS office, excel, Adobe, O365 and PowerPoint.

Skills/Abilities

Ability to key accurately and be detail oriented.

Ability to stand for long periods of time, lift and bend.

Ability to organize and prioritize a variable work-load.

Good analytical, problem solving and communications skills.

Able to make sound decisions and work under pressure.

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

Must possess a good driving record.

Must be able to demonstrate good computer input and retrieval skills.
