The Department of Aerospace Engineering and the Bristol Composites Institute (ACCIS) at the University of Bristol is looking to recruit a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Polymers and Sustainable Composites. The responsibilities of the post are split equally between Bristol Composites Institute (BCI), and the National Composites Centre (NCC). The Department is part of the School of Civil, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, renowned for delivering high-quality teaching and world-class research; attracting the best students and providing an intellectually stimulating environment for academic staff. The Bristol Composites Institute's vision is to be a world-leading institute for composites research and education, combining cutting-edge fundamental science with strong industrial and international links for exploitation and technology transfer. The NCC's mission is to accelerate the growth of UK industrial output by enabling design and manufacturing enterprises to deliver winning solutions in the application of composites. We wish to recruit a candidate who can complement and further develop our research in the areas of polymers and sustainable composites, and we will especially welcome experience in composite manufacture, design for sustainability, recycling and end-of-life, methods for establishing sustainability.

What will you be doing?

• You will carry out top-class research, to seek funding for research and to supervise research projects, and will be expected to make a positive contributions to the team and the future Research Excellence Framework (REF) exercise.• You will support and develop activities on knowledge transfer, technology development and the delivery of NCC R&D and customer-focused projects with a focus on sustainable composites.• You will be expected to contribute to teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level, principally to students on the BEng/MEng in Aerospace Engineering, MSc in Advanced Composites, Centre for Doctoral Training in Composites Science, Engineering and Manufacturing, and the Industrial Doctorate Programme in Composites Manufacture.
