Develops, enhances, and implements the post-award evaluation program for the Associations research awards. Identifies and works with internal and external systems, surveys, consultants, and vendors to collect the necessary data and produce evaluation reporting on the AHA research portfolio. Produces evaluation and outcomes reporting for programs, categories of programs or across the entire portfolio as needed. Analyzes AHA Research data, scans external research environment, and issues recommendations to appropriate leadership and committees.
Stays abreast of new analytic tools for research outcomes analysis and makes recommendations regarding changes and/or upgrades. Ensures that contractual agreements with outside vendors & consultants necessary to conduct the research evaluation program are developed and administered in accordance with AHA policy and meet the needs and mission of the Association. Manages budgeting, contract and analyst work, invoice review and payment for evaluation related expenses. Keeps up with software enhancements and trains Research staff as needed on these tools. Ensures report dashboard is developed and rolled out to staff.
Provides oversight regarding tracking and monitoring of Intellectual Property information related to AHA funded research awards.
Implements strategies to track trends and best practices in research program evaluation, including representing the AHA with various external organizations.
Manages the Strategic Outcomes subcommittee of the AHA Research Committee. Identify and recruit committee members, prepare agendas and exhibits, and distribute summary notes for all meetings.

Qualifications

Advanced Degree - Master's degree in Clinical, Laboratory Science or related area.
Minimum of seven (7) years of experience working in an academic or research environment including project planning or management.
Minimum of five (5) years of
Experience in program evaluation, research evaluation, project analytics and reporting either through supervision of internal staff, external contractors, project management, data management or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Experience staffing and leading volunteer committees and related task forces.
Comprehensive knowledge of current research evaluation trends, methods, research programs and comparative analysis.
Comprehensive training in statistical analysis and data analytics.
Superior writing and communication skills.
Ability to interpret scientific data and research outcomes through independent learning or collaboration with other staff.
Comprehensive understanding of planning and evaluation of government or NFP research program (NIH, Howard Hughes.
Must be able to travel overnight approx. 5-10% of the time.
