Faculty Position in Cell Biology & Physiology
The Department of Cell Biology and Physiology at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine (http://cbp.unm.edu/index.html) is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor to build and sustain an active research program in cancer biology with special emphasis on cancer stem cell biology, tumor microenvironment, cancer cell metabolism, or angiogenesis, and a strong interest in basic biomedical research. Departmental research programs focus on cancer genetics and signaling, cardiovascular and renal disease, and neurodegeneration, and synergize with UNM Health Sciences Center signature programs (https://hsc.unm.edu/research/research-centers/signature-research-programs/index.html).

The successful candidate will benefit from the exceptional opportunities for synergism and interactions with the UNM HSC signature programs, members of the four basic science departments, and the NIH NCI-designated UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center (http://cancer.unm.edu/).
Appointment will be in the Department of Cell Biology and Physiology, at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful applicant will develop a rigorous and independent research program and participate in departmental activities including graduate and medical school teaching.
A complete application must include a letter of interest addressing each minimum and preferred qualification and relating personal qualifications to the responsibilities of the position; CV or resume, a 1-page summary of current and proposed research, a 1-page statement of teaching philosophy and interests, and the names, addresses and telephone numbers of three references.

- Postdoctoral experience

- Independent research program, or strong potential for obtaining R01 or equivalent funding, as evidenced by funding history, high quality publications, and research plan
- Potential for research interactions with department members in the area of Cancer Biology
- Potential for participating in institutional educational activities
