This 12 month, .75 FTE position will provide instruction for students who are enrolled in the Joint Institute. The students attend courses in China and will be taught online or in-person in China. The position is contingent on funds available from the Joint Institute program.
Fundamental teaching duties of the position:
* Teach general education courses for NJUPT-PSU Joint Institute. (including, but not limited to Writing, Technical Writing, Public Speaking, Academic Reading, Critical Thinking, and the Summer English Program) * Use English as a medium of instruction and integrate language and content into the courses * Teach up to 6 classes for an academic year (3 classes per semester) * Teach 1 summer English Program class * Teach online to both large and small classes (from 30-120 students) * Travel to China and teach classes from 4 weeks to 4 months. Dependent upon COVID restrictions and guidelines. * Prepare materials for courses * Use a variety of appropriate methods of engagement and assessment * Use appropriate teaching strategies * Evaluate student learning and modify instructional methods and strategies as appropriate to meet diverse student needs. * Post grades with partner university * Use appropriate technology to teach classes and communicate with students * Assist in developing curriculum to be used for Joint Institute online and in-person courses * Hold weekly office hours (online or in person) * Attend regularly scheduled meetings with Joint Institute team members. Meetings and instruction occurs on China time schedules/zone.
