OHSU Family Medicine is part of the OHSU School of Medicine. OHSU Family Medicine is focused on family health and our patient care is among the nation's best, ranked #1 among the nation's medical school Family Medicine departments by U.S. News and World Report. We value full spectrum and comprehensive primary care for people and families. Our residency program is one of the few four year Family Medicine training programs and strives to recruit and train the next generation of family physicians. Under the Family Medicine department is a Sports Medicine team of physicians who practice both family medicine and sports medicine. Our Sports Medicine Fellowship is ACGME accredited and has two first year fellows. The University of Oregon and OHSU Sports Medicine are partnering to start a second year sports medicine fellowship in Eugene Oregon starting in August 2021.

We are seeking an experienced Family and Sports Medicine physician to work in one of our core clinics seeing patient in both family and sports medicine. As an Academic program, our focus will be hiring a caring and compassionate clinician who also has academic experience teaching and training in Family Medicine and Sports Medicine. The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university's missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.

Functions/Duties of Position: (Prorated based on FTE)
  • Provide family medicine care to a panel of patients at one of OHSU outpatient Family Medicine clinics. Total of six half-days per week of clinic. Hiring preference for family medicine providers continuing aspects of full spectrum practices (inpatient attending, outpatient procedures, pre-natal/Obstetrics).
  • Provide sports medicine care two half-days per week direct patient care in OHSU Sports Medicine.
  • Work collaboratively with full and part time faculty to maintain an active practice.
  • The Appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university's missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.
  • The faculty member will be expected to have a strong commitment to developing the practice into a vibrant clinical and academic operation, which is successful from both a professional and business point of view.
  • Previous work experience in Primary care and Sports Medicine required.
  • The Appointee will directly see patients in their clinic eight half days per week and have two half day's available for administrative duties/scholarship duties. Expectations for number of patients seen per half day will be commensurate with that of other faculty and with minimum target numbers of 8-10 visits per half day depending on complexity of the patient population.
  • Involvement with didactic and clinical supervision of fellows in the Family Medicine Residents and Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellows at OHSU Family Medicine.
  • The Appointee will be involved in the community in the role of team physician
  • Inpatient (medicine/pediatric) service and obstetrical care are optional, not required. The faculty member will have a strong commitment to developing the family and sports medicine practice into a vibrant, successful clinical and academic operation
  • The faculty member will participate in continuing education, professional and faculty development, and scholarship as directed by the Department of Family Medicine
  • All faculty members take an active role in the committee structure of the School of Medicine, attend faculty meetings, and participate in faculty and professional development programs
  • The Appointee will be expected to document using the electronic health record and maintain complete and timely patient care documentation consistent with OHSU and Family Medicine policies and procedures.
  • Be available for teaching activities including but not limited to resident precepting, student precepting, didactics and more.
  • By mutual agreement between the Department and the physician, this position may include Inpatient Care (at OHSU and/or Hillsboro Medical Center) with call duties being shared with the faculty inpatient call group.
  • The Appointee will be expected to participate in seeing patients during expanded access hours in the clinic, including their share of evenings and weekends, and call coverage. The Appointee will be expected to have a strong commitment to developing the practice into a vibrant clinical and academic operation, which is successful from both a professional and business perspective.

  • Required: Board Certified or Board Eligible. (Licensed in Oregon)
  • Required: Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) Sports Medicine
  • M.D./D.O. as well as a graduate medical education in an ACGME accredited Family Medicine Residency.
  • Capable of providing comprehensive health services
  • Certified to prescribe
  • Approved staff privileges at OHSU Health Hospital systems.
