Under the direction of the Dean of Nursing, the Associate Dean of Students is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, healthy, and supportive environment and culture which fosters student success at Jersey College. Appointment to the role of Associate Dean of Students is not the equivalent of appointment to the role of Program Administrator or Program Director as defined in N.J.A.C. 13:37-1.6 or F.S. 464.019, respectively.
Appointment to the role of Program Administrator or Program Director may only be made through an official notification sent to the Board of Nursing on Jersey College letterhead and signed by the President of the College. The job description of Associate Dean of Students also encompasses other similar positions such as the Admissions Associate Dean.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Mentoring of Students
Manage Student Policies and Procedures
Student Counseling, Retention, and Status Change
NCLEX Oversight
Job Responsibilities
Create an environment that fosters faculty and students' academic growth
Guides students' professional development
Ensure that students follow school policies and procedures
End of Term: Meet with and counsel students
Student Status Changes
Serve as a resource person, mentor, and policy interpreter for students experiencing difficulties not resolved with an instructor or advisor
Actively participate in admissions and orientation process
Assist in student retention
Coordinating student services related to tutoring and counseling
Promote graduation rates and first-time NCLEX pass rates
Perform duties of a faculty member
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Job Requirements:
Preferred Qualifications
BSN required; MSN preferred
2+ years of working experience in the area of education
Licenses and Continuing Education Required by Regulatory Bodies
Ability to maintain and report on student information and track record of achieving goals
Exceptional student/customer service, listening, and teamwork skills
An outgoing, approachable style and a passion for helping students succeed
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Plans for maintaining competencies
