Responsibilities:
Contribute to the creation of and maintenance of a gene list to support variant curation and patient testing. Curate and review gene level evidence for the gene disease relationship. Curate or review domain specific information and disease mechanism in genes to support variant curation and classification. Curate (or update) variants in disease-causing genes based on literature according to the ACMG Guidelines. Curate (or review) functional data as it relates to variants associated with disease.
Requirements:
Proficient in applying the ACMG Guidelines for Variant Interpretation (Richards et al. 2015; Riggs et al., 2020) Foundational understanding of (or proficient in) the ClinGen Gene Disease Validity Framework Understanding of clinical applications of genetic information Strong understanding of genetics and genotype phenotype relationships Ability to analyze medical and scientific literature Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills Basic understanding of statistical analyses Superior written and verbal communication skills Highly motivated, accurate and detail oriented with the proven ability to think innovatively toward solving problems effectively and efficiently Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver in a time sensitive manner Demonstrated experience in evaluating scientific papers, translation of genetic information and applying genetic analysis Basic understanding of bioinformatics approaches to clinical genome analysis Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet aggressive deadlines and handle multiple activities simultaneously Requires an advanced degree in a Biological Sciences field and at least 2 years related experience.
