Applications are invited for an exciting opportunity to join the faculty of the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) Knight Cancer Institute within the subspecialty focus of blood and marrow transplantation and/or cellular therapy. Faculty applicants may be eligible for senior positions, based on external funding and publications, commensurate with experience, as determined by the OHSU School of Medicine. Clinical and/or laboratory-based investigators are both encouraged to apply.
The OHSU Knight Cancer Institute is an international leader in research and cancer treatment. The OHSU BMT program is a large program experiencing significant growth and is pursuing the recruitment of faculty with an interest in clinical and translational research, with a record of providing high quality clinical care.
Successful candidates will have an extraordinary opportunity to integrate their research into a highly dynamic environment, inclusive of robust programs in blood and marrow transplantation, hematologic malignancies and the emerging field of cellular immunotherapy. The individual in this position will be a faculty member in the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology, Department of Medicine. They will join the Center for Hematologic Malignancies with the goal of expanding the basic, translational, and clinical research programs. It is expected they will be active in the academic mission of the university, as applied to patients with hematologic malignancies in need of advanced cellular therapies.
The duties of this position are in support of the missions, goals and objectives of OHSU and the School of Medicine and include:
+ Provide care for patients in need of transplantation or cellular therapy interventions;
+ Establish and maintain a program of scholarly activity directed toward improved understanding of the causes, detection and treatment of oncologic disease with guidance and support of the BMT Program Head;
+ Carry out basic or clinical research in Division research space assigned by the Division Head;
+ Participate in some administrative committees and councils of the OHSU;
+ Participate in the education of medical students, house staff and other team personnel, and engage in public service through consultative activities with non-university groups with knowledge and consent of the BMT Program Chair and Division Head.
It is anticipated the position will be made up of the following components: Clinical, teaching research/academic, and inpatient service.
+ MD or MD/PhD
+ Licensed to practice medicine in Oregon
+ Board certified in Internal Medicine
+ Board eligible/certified in hematology and/or oncology.
+ History of training or academic effort focused on blood & marrow transplantation and/or cellular therapy used in the care of patients with hematologic malignancies and other disorders
+ Proven success working with multi-disciplinary teams
+ Demonstrated success in obtaining extramural funds for clinical trials and/or basic science research.
