The Executive Director (ED) will serve as a "Chief of Staff" to the School of Medicine (TUSM) Dean and Wellforce Chief Academic Officer (CAO). Reporting to the Dean/CAO, the ED will play a major role in prioritizing time and resources to ensure the effectiveness of the Dean/CAO with internal and external stakeholders. Support the work and communications between the Dean/CAO and executive leadership and staff. Uses sound judgment to handle issues independently and identify and elevate issues requiring the Dean/CAO's attention. The ED will coordinate projects and commitments of the Dean/CAO and will independently lead special projects that will often be of confidential or of a time-sensitive nature. Will serve as the point of contact with the Medical School's Board of Advisors and work with the Dean/CAO to cultivate Board engagement. Develop draft communications on behalf of the Dean/CAO. The ED will serve as a "trusted counsel" and requires resourcefulness, strong emotional intelligence, self-motivation, and analytical skills.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:
  • Knowledge and skills as typically acquired through completion of Master's degree with 5 - 7 years of related experience
  • Excellent organization, attention to detail with relentless focus on follow-up
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks
  • Applicable/transferable experience: private sector roles in law, business strategy or consulting; public sector roles in policy, project management, communication and presentation skills; political strategy roles; or nonprofit management roles.
  • Mission-driven; passionate about TUSM, TMC, Wellforce and healthcare transformation
  • Good sense of self and strong personal presence
  • Mature judgement and discretion in maintaining confidential information
  • Highly-developed communications skills (written/verbal)
  • Developed interpersonal skills and demonstrated success with team building
  • Results/action-orientation; project management skills
  • Organizational and political agility; developed negotiation skills
  • Unquestionable personal code of ethics, integrity, diversity and trust
  • Able to successfully navigate within varying degrees of ambiguity in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong strategic thinking skills
  • Willingness to work hard and take direction, but also creatively solve problems for which the answers arent always obvious
  • Strong analytical skills, and working knowledge of financials


Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA, JD, or MPP
  • Health care industry experience
  • Market research experience a plus
  • Knowledge of TUSM, TMC, Wellforce and key stakeholders desirable


Special Work Schedule Requirements:
Travel between entity locations.
