The goal of the Discovery research team is to identify drug targets, design assays to identify inhibitors of these targets and develop these inhibitors through iterative processes to identify novel drug candidates. One aspect that the ViiV Discovery team is currently focused on is early phase projects designed to identify drug candidates for use in antiviral therapy and/or cure of HIV. We are seeking a Scientific Leader/ Investigator to help us develop molecular and cell-based assays that will help us meet this goal. Basic Requirements Bachelor's in Biological Sciences or relevant field with a minimum of 5+ years of experience or equivalent Demonstrated hands-on virology expertise Demonstrated hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, cloning, sequence analysis) Demonstrated hands-on experience with cell culture and aseptic techniques, including primary cells (e.g., PBMCs) Acceptable to working with infectious human immunodeficiency virus type-1 (HIV-1) (experience a plus) Basic knowledge of SPR assays or flow cytometry is preferable Experience analyzing data, interpreting results, and maintaining accurate and complete laboratory records Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience in biotechnology of pharmaceutical industry Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to execute experiments to meet deadlines Self-starter with a successful track record managing multiple projects simultaneously Excellent analytical and organization skills Preferred Qualifications: If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: Good communication skills with stakeholders People Management skills to lead and provide guidance to assigned analysts Basic knowledge of business process within GSK Why GSK?
