The Immuno-Oncology & Combinations Research Unit (IOC RU) is seeking a highly motivated lab-based Senior Scientist (non-PhD) with experience in B cell biology to join the team. The successful candidate will design and deliver biological work packages to support the identification, validation and progression of novel targets. With hands on experience of B cell biology, you will be responsible for designing and developing novel, robust, in vitro cell-based immuno-oncology assays that recapitulate disease-relevant biology; these assays will be applied to target validation and target identification, with an initial focus on B cell biology. This is an exciting lab-based role that will allow the successful candidate to have a critical contribution to our efforts to identify novel drug targets and clinical combination opportunities for immuno-oncology at GSK. The Senior Scientist will need to be a creative, innovative self-starter, with excellent verbal and written communication skills. You will be accountable for generating high quality, robust data and must have an ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary matrix team. Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: B.A./B.S. with 5+ years OR M.S. with 3+ years of academic or biopharmaceutical research experience in immunology or immuno-oncology, with a focus on B cell biology. Experience developing immunology assays. Proficient in aseptic primary human immune cell culture (e.g. PBMCs) Experience in characterization of immune cell function by phenotypic and functional assays such as multi-colour flow cytometry, ELISAs and multiplex cytokine assays. Preferred Qualifications: If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: Track record of independent thinking and problem-solving. Strong communication skills. Excited to deliver from the bench and to work in a team to achieve group objectives. Experience of small scale CRISPR/gene editing/functional genomics Any prior exposure to high throughput screening efforts and the considerations required for optimising assays for these screens would be beneficial.
