Device Engineer Position
Sivananthan Laboratories is on the cutting edge of research and development of intelligent and automatic-decision making sensors and imagers. Candidate will be considered for postdoctoral or regular position depending on experience.
SUMMARY OF ROLE:
The successful candidate will work on all aspects related of optoelectriconic devices for the primary application of advanced semiconductor infrared sensors and detectors. Primary duties will include device design and processing, assisting in contract R&D proposals, and assisting in transitioning material structures into production.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will specifically:
· Work closely with the team members in developing optoelectronics device design
· Develop and implement nanofabrication of the devices, including photolithography
· Develop optical and electronic device testing procedures for semiconductor devices
· Characterize materials and devices including IR infrared detectors and aAvalanche pPhotod Diodes, made of heterostructures, 2D materials, and colloidal quantum dots
· Write R&D-level proposals and grant applications for semiconductor materials and device technology advancements
· Write technical reports to funding agencies and customers
· Make technical presentations at conferences and to customers/collaborators
· Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair test equipment
REQUIRED SKILLS:
· Device processing, including lithography (E-beam, laser, contact), mask making, resist processing, deposition, etching, and annealing
· Device characterization using electrical and optical tools
· Materials and device data analysis and interpretation
· Strong oral and written communication skills, strong organization skills with an attention to detail, and excellent documentation capability
· Computer skills including Python, LabView, SQL, AutoCAD, and COMSOL a plus
· Willingness to learn new technical areas
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
· PhD in a relevant discipline (Physics, Engineering or Materials Science)
· At least three years of semiconductor materials and device experience
