Goucher seeks a visionary, strategic, and collaborative leader to become the College's founding Dean of the School of Education. The founding Dean will provide innovative vision and entrepreneurial leadership in developing, teaching, and supporting a robust portfolio of undergraduate bachelor's degrees, professional master's degrees, and other professional and continuing education certificates. This position will have an extraordinary opportunity to advance Goucher's mission and elevate the impact of a Goucher education on the profession of teaching.

The new faculty member will oversee a diverse community of faculty, staff, and students; ensure the rigor and integrity of a broad curriculum in compliance with state and federal standards for teacher preparation; coordinate resources, faculty, and stakeholder development; and sustain strong relationships with Maryland school district superintendents, administrators, and teachers. Responsibilities include teaching two courses per academic year. Candidates who have a record of serving and partnering with culturally diverse and marginalized communities across multiple levels of educational systems (e.g., schools, districts, higher education) will have preferential consideration.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications
  • Doctoral or terminal degree from an accredited institution, specifically a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in education (related disciplines will be considered)
  • Eligible for faculty rank at the associate professor level
  • Active research agenda
  • Minimum 3 years of PK-12 and/or higher education teaching experience plus leadership experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to access, inclusion, diversity and social justice
  • A strong understanding of academics in a liberal arts setting service a diverse student body
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Significant and demonstrable experience in leading the creation and implementation of innovative, relevant, and sustainable graduate and professional learning programs
  • Experience with successful accreditation efforts in program approval for teacher preparation programs
  • Demonstrated success as a collaborative leader, administrator, and fundraiser within an academic environment
  • Experience mentoring student research
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining partnerships with external organizations and employers
