Our technical consulting services help stakeholders plan, design, finance, build, invest, operate, maintain and manage renewable energy projects through a wide range of services such as measurement, production analysis, risk assessment, inspections, performance analysis and certification of materials, components, products and systems.UL is seeking two Solar Performance Engineers to join the Solar Asset and Performance Assessment Team. This position can be located remotely within the United States or Canada. This role contributes to the development of innovative, high quality products and services, typically working on multiple projects in parallel with all levels of staff. This position will work under the direction of a team leader having responsibility for the completion of high-quality renewable energy analysis work with a focus on operational solar assets. Analysis of operational solar assets involves working across a full range of disciplines from solar photovoltaics, data science, atmospheric science, and computer science.

What youll learn & achieve::
Timely and efficiently complete high-quality solar performance analysis work.Completion and delivery of operational energy analysisCompletion and delivery of solar performance analysis and assessments using UL developed internal tools and process.Review, validation, and analysis SCADA, revenue meter data and monthly operations reportsEstimation of plant loss, availability and uncertainty quantificationWrite/review reports and present results to customers and other interested partiesUnderstand and ensure company quality control standards are metSupport business development activities, including meeting with customers. Presenting at conferences and collaborating on scopes of workSupport of software development and documentation of internal systems to ensure effective use by global teams.Other duties as assigned.

What makes you a great fit::
Bachelor of Science degree in Science, Engineering, Physics, Data Science, or Statistics2-8 years of related experience, with solar energy expertise preferred. New graduates with appropriate background will be considered.Thorough working knowledge of programming language(s) for use in statistics and data analysis in Python is highly desirable. Additional experience in R or MATLAB and developing data analysis tools (preferred)Database management skillsDetail orientatedStrong writing skillsWorking knowledge and background in solar preferredProven track record of SCADA analysis of discrete event, time series, and plant performance assessment preferredExperience working directly with customers to develop scopes of work and to present technical results/findings preferredTravel within the US may be required up to 15-25%UL has COVID-19 protocols and policies in place. Business related travel on behalf of UL requires proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
