Description

The Department of Physics and Astronomy, College of Science, and the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, College of Engineering, of Texas A&M University invite applications for a joint faculty member in the area of condensed matter physics/materials science. This full-time, tenured position with specialization in condensed matter physics/materials science will have a nine-month academic appointment beginning September 1, 2020. Applicants will be considered for the faculty titles of associate professor and professor.

The successful candidate will assume full teaching responsibilities at the graduate and undergraduate levels, teaching both physics and materials science in alternating semesters; establish a vigorous, independent research program that will attract external funding; and contribute to the service missions of the departments. Researchers from the areas that join condensed matter physics and materials science, both experimental and theoretical, are encouraged to apply. Texas A&M has an interest in expanding its efforts in interdisciplinary sciences. Synergies of the selected candidate's research with other programs may also be an asset.

Qualifications

Earned PhD in physics, materials science, engineering, or related field; strong record of publication; specialization in experimental or theoretical condensed matter physics/materials science.
