JOB SUMMARY: The Director of the Sensitive Patient Exam Commitment (SPEC) Program facilitates student History and Physical exams and reviews student immunization charts. In addition, the Director oversees a diverse teaching instructors so to maintain LECOM's standard of excellence.

CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following are a list of exercises that may be required as a member of the staff from time to time:
  • Teach the principles of a thorough and sensitive genital exam, both male and female;
  • Recruit, hire, train, directly oversee, and maintain a diverse poll of Teaching Associates and Instructors;
  • Develop the schedule for Teaching Associates/Instructors;
  • Keep inventory of all needed supplies and order as needed;
  • Be responsible for the shared space for the program;
  • Develop questions for the 10 point pre-test quiz;
  • Teach the proper use of the all instruments;
  • Maintain decorum of staff and students, showing by example "Respect for the Patient" (teaching associate);
  • Impart the humanistic ideals, in accordance with the Osteopathic Philosophy;
  • Transport refreshments to medical offices;
  • Assist the Director of Clinical Education in evaluating and administering student examinations including utilizing the Simulated Patient Program;
  • Assist the Director of H & P in course evaluating and administering student examinations;
  • Participate as Facilitator in LECOM's PBL Pathway;
  • Uphold the mission of LECOM;
  • Assist in candidate interviews for the incoming classes at the medical college;
  • Contribute to the academic planning and development of LECOM's curriculum by preparing course syllabi, course outlines, lecture materials, bibliographies and other materials
  • Contribute to the academic planning of the SPEC Program;
  • Provide academic advice and support to LECOM's students;
  • Serve on planning, governance and other LECOM committees as assigned;
  • Prepare written monthly reports documenting the foregoing activities in a form acceptable to the Senior Vice President and Dean of Academic Affairs;
  • In accordance with the Office of Student Affairs, ensure student immunization records are in compliance with LECOM requirements as well as conduct periodic reviews to ensure such records are current;
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by LECOM including but not limited to participation in any new academic programs;
  • Be available to work extended hours and weekends on an as needed basis;
  • Contribute directly to the Mission of LECOM embodying the essence of Osteopathic Principles and Practices by assisting with Institutional fundraising and participating in the LECOM Scholarship Auction;
  • Commit to being a representative of LECOM by being actively involved in the community, including, but not limited to, serving on Boards, participating in community fundraisers and overall outreach; and
  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Job Requirements:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Must possess required knowledge and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
  • Strong computer literacy with MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel...etc.) and accurate data entry skills;
  • Enthusiastic, good sense of humor, and a professional positive attitude;
  • Excellent understanding of the admissions process and a demonstrated ability to market and promote professional programs in healthcare administration, medicine, pharmacy, and dentistry;

  • Compliance with State and Federal Regulations and Safety Protocols (OSHA);
  • Ability to be trained and certified on the Institutional Data System;
  • Effective use of interpersonal and communications skills, including tact and diplomacy;
  • Effective use of organizational and planning skills, including attention to detail and follow-through;
  • Time management skills in assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects, and demands;
  • Willingness to maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials;
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships;
  • Willingness to be flexible and accept other duties needed/assigned;

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and experience equivalent to: a minimum of a Bachelor's degree with three to five (3-5) years' of experience in a related field required. Doctorate, R.N. or N.P. degree preferred. OB/GYN or family medicine background and experience with gynecologic and male genital examinations. Successful candidate must possess efficient and effective verbal and written communication skills, multi-task and problem solve to properly support and promote the mission of LECOM.
