POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, Media Lab-Digital Currency Initiative, to join a highly collaborative team of researchers and staff who bring together global experts to take on challenges in cryptocurrency and digital currency design. Responsibilities include assisting with building up long-term defenses against potential layer-1 bugs in Bitcoin by, for example, supporting modularization efforts and researching safer programming paradigms and languages; preemptively investigating, monitoring, and strengthening the software against attacks; improving automation, writing new tests and security tools and decreasing reliance on scarce experts; and researching the long-term economic security of cryptocurrency systems.
The Digital Currency Initiative explores the many issues involved in blockchain, digital currency, and Bitcoin technology. Will undertake research into developing new technologies that can help strengthen Bitcoin's security in addition to contributing to Bitcoin's development.
