Specific Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility of this position is to design and monitor or conduct experiments to understand the absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion (ADME) and drug-drug interaction (DDI) properties of drug candidates. The scientist will also serve as a drug metabolism and pharmacokinetic (DMPK) representative on multidisciplinary project teams and provide guidance to solve ADME liabilities. Supervision of other scientists and/or laboratory staff would likely be required.

Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as DMPK subject matter expert for multiple dynamic cross-functional teams, to define ADME strategies to achieve target product profiles, integrate in vitro and in vivo drug disposition data, interpretation, and give presentations to teams.
  • Work closely with internal and external resources to assure timely delivery of high quality DMPK data.
  • An advantage would be the ability to design and perform complex PK analyses, carry out model development and PK/PD analyses to answer translational questions, and to provide DMPK guidance for project teams.
  • Provide clear verbal communication of results and strategies at group, department, project team and management level. Write research reports and regulatory documents.
  • Contribute to science through conference presentations and publication of new findings.


Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

  • Requires a highly motivated individual with PhD degree in life sciences with 3 to 5 years of post-doctoral and/or industry experience.
  • Demonstrates excellent scientific verbal and technical communication, and interpersonal skills. Must be organized, pay attention to details and have strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Requires hands-on experience and deep knowledge of pharmacokinetics, biotransformation, enzymology, transporter sciences or related pharmacology.
  • Expertise and experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Experience in drug development, authoring documents for regulatory authorities
    • State of the art bioanalysis by LC/MS and related techniques
    • Metabolite identification and understanding of reactive metabolite chemistry
    • Biochemical and cell-based approaches to study the metabolism and/or transport of drug candidates
    • Understand the principles, theories and approaches of pharmacokinetics, drug disposition and drug interactions. Proven application of modeling methods for quantitative translation using Simcyp, GastroPlus and/or general kinetic modeling programs.
    • Bioanalysis and disposition processes of therapeutic proteins
