The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine and IU Health Physicians seeks a pathologist with strong diagnostic skills in gastrointestinal pathology including hepatic pathology to expand our facility. Access to surgical pathology is available to those who wish to maintain a blended practice. In 2019, the group accessioned 100,000 surgical pathology cases, approximately 25% of which were GI mucosal biopsies. The University has a very robust transplant program including busy liver and small bowel transplant services.

The 17-hospital IU Health Laboratory System is served by over 70 pathologists and is growing. This clinical or academic track faculty position is based at the IU Health Central Pathology Laboratory. Operating out of the department's clinical headquarters at the 150,000 square foot pathology lab, this newly created position offers the ability to collaborate with a cadre of subspecialized pathologists. The state-wide IU Health Laboratory system also includes pathologists practicing in community-based environments who receive the support of colleagues practicing in the enriched environment created by an academic health center.

Qualifications:
  • Applicants must be certified by the American Board of Pathology in anatomic and clinical pathology
  • Applicants must also be qualified for medical licensure in the state of Indiana
  • Fellowship in one or more subspecialty areas is highly desirable
  • Mid-career pathologists are highly encouraged to apply
  • Doctorate or Terminal degree is required
