OPPORTUNITY
Mammoth is seeking a VP of Genome Engineering that will be responsible for driving Mammoth next-generation CRISPR proteins from discovery through preclinical development. The role will involve managing the genome engineering team while also being the main point of contact between external research partners and CROs. The person will work closely with company leadership to set research priorities. A deep understanding of quality, manufacturing and regulatory processes in gene editing is essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead research and pre-clinical development aspects of Mammoth's genome engineering portfolio
  • Lead genome engineering animal studies utilizing Mammoth's CRISPR portfolio
  • Recruit and coach technical team leads to form a strong and cohesive unit
  • Oversee and manage the technical relationships with external partners
  • Work with the business development team to gather, organize, and prioritize R&D efforts
  • Plan and coordinate the creation of new genome engineering modalities
  • Implement project management approaches
  • Project budgeting and scope management
  • Work with operations in the scale up of materials and processes (with external partners as appropriate)
  • Play a strong supporting role in development and maintenance of quality system and regulatory planning
  • Proactively identify potential risks/issues and work with the team to develop mitigation strategies.
  • Work with scientific advisory board and KOLs to refine R&D strategy
  • Act as a "leader as coach" by serving as a mentor to direct reports and other team members and actively giving well intentioned feedback and working with them to highlight their strengths and improve gaps


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • MD or PhD
  • Minimum of 10 years professional experience in the translation of gene therapies or genome engineering technologies
  • Experience leading preclinical development of gene editing or gene therapy product
  • Extensive experience building and managing teams

TEAM
Our small-size proteins, such as Cas14 and CasPhi, are poised to transform disease treatment enabling novel editing approaches and delivery options that are difficult to achieve or not even possible with previously described CRISPR-Cas systems. Our teams are responsible for discovering and engineering novel CRISPR systems, establishing CRISPR-based diagnostics, and translating our unique CRISPR technology into therapeutic treatments with the ultimate goal of cures for indications with high medical need.
