The role
This is a fixed term position within the Soft Robotics Group at University of Bristol to work on the development of soft robot avatars for expanding access to performance spaces for people unable to attend physically. The work will be focused on the development of a prototype kit of deployable robots for human robot interaction (HRI).
What will you be doing?
You will develop soft, cm-scale robots to be installed in public arts spaces, enabling remote access.
Project aims:
The team will work with groups of socially isolated people to co-design user-centered morphologies and behaviours of the robots through a workshop series.
You should apply if
You have experience of robotics hardware design, fabrication and testing, together with knowledge of microcontroller programming and fundamental robot control. You should also have an appropriate publication record and a PhD in a closely related field, and ideally, experience of soft robotics. Please see the full person specification / job description attached for further details.
We welcome applications from all members of our community and are particularly encouraging those from diverse groups, such as members of the LGBT+ and BAME communities, to join us.
