The role

To conduct leading edge research in field of Massive MIMO wireless technologies and the application of Artificial Intelligence for performance optimisation as part the CELTIC AIMM project. This collaborative project ( https://www.celticnext.eu/project-aimm/ ) includes BT, Vilicom UK Ltd, Loughborough University, InterDigital Europe Limited, ThinkRF, Nokia Bell Labs (Stuttgart), Universität Stuttgart and IMST GmbH, as well as the University of Bristol through the Communication Systems and Network Group.

What will you be doing?

Conduct state-of-the art research in the field of:

o Centralised & Decentralised Massive MIMO wireless connectivity

o Application of Artificial Intelligence for wireless performance optimisation in the context of Massive MIMO aided connectivity
  • Detailed performance assessment of candidate algorithms using appropriate simulation tools simulators to allow rigorous benchmarking and down-selection of scheme for further appraisal.
  • Migration of design to test-bed implementation and validation
  • Collaboration and engage with internal and external partners within the Celtic AIMM
  • Co-author papers for publication in high-impact journals.


You should apply if

Significant experience in prototyping and evaluation of Massive MIMO enabled wireless connectivity using National Instruments hardware and software tools (USRPs, LabView and Labview Comms)
  • Significant experience in real-time interfacing using Python, C on Linux platforms
  • Significant experience in designing and developing simulations for wireless communications using MATLAB.
  • Application of AI to wireless systems for performance enhancement
  • Physical Layer wireless trials (design, deployment, capture and analysis)
  • Track record of innovative and creative research in the field of RF systems, physical layer wireless design evidenced by publications, patents or products
