Job Description

The Department of Economics, Finance, and Accounting at Fort Hays State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in finance. The position requires teaching in the area of finance, conducting research, and providing service to the institution. Fort Hays State University is a teaching focused institution and the primary mission of the Department of Economics, Finance, and Accounting is to provide quality instruction. Class sizes are small and we place a premium on quality teaching. We seek applicants who have a passion for teaching and challenging students in the classroom and in the online environment.

Minimum Qualifications: ABD status within one year of completing a PhD in Finance from a regionally accredited school. At least one-year teaching experience is also required.

Preferred Qualifications: A conferred PhD in Finance from a regionally accredited school and at least two-years teaching experience. Candidates with strong teaching skills/experience and a demonstrated ability to do research will also be given preference.

Responsibilities: This is a nine-month, tenure-track position. The candidate accepted for this position will be expected to teach 12 credit hours per semester at the undergraduate and graduate levels in finance (may include both on-campus and online courses). The primary teaching area of responsibility is corporate finance (at the undergraduate and graduate levels) with a possibility to teach in the areas of investments and financial institutions. The selected candidate will stay current in the field through active research and will participate in departmental, college, and university activities.

About the Department:

The Department of Economics, Finance, and Accounting is one of four departments in the Robbins College of Business and Entrepreneurship at FHSU and offers outstanding undergraduate and graduate instruction in the accounting, economics, and finance disciplines. Currently, the degree and majors offered by the department are a B.B.A. in Accounting; a B.B.A. in Accounting with a concentration in public accounting, a B.B.A. in Finance, a B.B.A. in Finance with concentrations in banking, economics, and financial planning; and a B.B.A. in International Business and Economics. Minor programs in accounting, economics, finance, banking, and international business and economics, and certificate programs in accounting, banking, economics, finance, and insurance are also offered.
