Job Description
The Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff Mountain Campus invites applicants for two full-time (9-month) non tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant Clinical Professor level. The positions have an anticipated start date of August 16, 2021.
We seek candidates whose teaching, research, and/or service has prepared them to support our commitment to fostering a diverse community supported by an equitable, inclusive campus climate that engages diverse stakeholders in physical therapy education. Responsibilities will primarily include teaching (~80%), scholarship, as well as service to the Department, College, University, and/or Profession.

Minimum Qualifications

* A professional doctorate (DPT) - earned from a regionally accredited institution.
* A minimum of 3 years of clinical experience as a physical therapist.
* Must be eligible to work in the US and obtain PT licensure in Arizona.
* Experience teaching in an academic environment, at a minimum, as adjunct faculty.

Preferred Qualifications

* A terminal academic doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DSc, etc.) or equivalent in a closely related biomedical science field to physical therapy from an accredited institution; ABD candidates may be considered.
* An American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) certification or certification credentials appropriate for their teaching responsibilities.
* Prior classroom/didactic teaching experience in one or more of the following content areas: administration, management of medically complex patients across the continuum of care, research methods and/or population health/social determinants of health.
* Additional teaching experience in areas compatible with programmatic needs that compliments our current faculty.
* Ability to work in a team and collaborate with faculty, students, staff and across the university.
* Evidence of scholarly activity.
* Record of service to the profession and/or community.
* Demonstrated commitment to work with diverse cultural backgrounds.
* Commitment to innovation, service, and professional advancement.
* Experience or desire in working with rural/underserved populations and/or in the pro-bono physical therapy clinic.
* Experience or desire in interprofessional education and/or simulation.

The Physical Therapy educational program is housed within the Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training and enjoys a long rich history of excellence in both scholarly activity and the clinical education of physical therapists. The program's research activities include human locomotion, balance and posture, and health and wellness. In addition, we have active collaboration with Athletic Training, Mechanical Engineering, and the Center for Bioengineering Innovation and Biology. As a part of their service, PT faculty can assist at a department-run pro bono clinic.

Background Information
Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, an employment history verification and a degree verification (in some cases) prior to employment. You may also be required to complete a fingerprint background check.

Faculty are hired on a contract basis, renewable according to terms of the [Conditions of Faculty Service](http://nau.edu/Provost/Resources-Policies/). Employees offered a position will be eligible for state health plans (including NAU's BCBS Plan). Employees will have 31 days from date of hire to enroll in benefits, and their benefits will then be effective the first day of the pay period following their completed enrollment.

If a new employee chooses the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) retirement option, participation in the ASRS Plan (and the long-term disability coverage that accompanies it) will begin on the first of the pay period following 183 days of employment. New employees who choose to participate in the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP; an alternative to the ASRS plan) will begin to participate on the first day of employment. The long-term disability plan that accompanies the ORP will begin on the first day of the pay period following 90 days of employment.
