*Position Highlights:*The Ginny L. Clements Breast Cancer Research Institute at the University of Arizona Comprehensive Cancer Center (UACC) is seeking its inaugural Director.
The Institute was founded with the mission of changing the lives of patients with breast cancer through transformational research. The Institute will focus on novel discoveries and innovative clinical trials that will test new ways to diagnose and treat breast cancer.
Under the guidance of the UACC, the Institute Director will be responsible for defining the research goals, priorities, and direction of the transdisciplinary institute. The inaugural Director will hold the Ginny L. Clements Breast Cancer Research Institute Endowed Director's Chair.
UACC seeks a renowned expert in breast cancer treatment and research with exceptional leadership skills. The Director will have a track record of innovation and collaboration, strong interpersonal skills, ability to advance team science, and experience in fundraising. The Director will advance the major goal of the Institute, which is to drive discovery in order to benefit the care of breast cancer patients. *Duties & Responsibilities:*The University of Arizona Cancer Center is the only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center headquartered in the State of Arizona. The Cancer Center has three research Programs, namely, Cancer Biology, Clinical and Translational Oncology, and Cancer Prevention and Control with strengths in basic mechanisms of carcinogenesis, tumor microenvironment, disparities, and cancer prevention. The Cancer Center is further supported by a broad array of Shared Resources in support of our cancer research activities including but not limited to Human Immune Monitoring, Cancer Imaging, Biostatistics and Bioinformatics, Metabolomics, Behavioral Measurements and Interventions as well as our comprehensive biorepository which provides biospecimen collection, processing, and storage coupled with clinical and risk factor data collection for a variety of cancers. Bidirectional communication with our catchment is promoted by our Community Outreach and Engagement Team.
Our newly created Office of Training and Education drives the training of the next generation of cancer researchers in our catchment and beyond. Clinical research is supported by 13 Clinical Research Teams and Innovative Working Groups. The UACC's Breast Cancer Center is the premier regional Center and employs a multidisciplinary approach to diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer, offering a robust clinical trials program for access to cutting edge breast cancer treatment. Other services offered by the Center include genetic counseling, education and survivorship.
