*Position Highlights:*The School of Journalism at the University of Arizona invites applications for a full-time or two part-time, non-tenure-eligible appointments at the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice. The person or persons will oversee our video journalism program and broadcast/podcast studios. Please indicate in your cover letter whether you are interested in a part-time or full-time position. This position, at a 1.0 full-time, would be teaching 6 courses a year plus service; if two part-time positions are offered, the work would be pro-rated proportionately.
We will begin reviewing applications immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Hiring is expected to be completed in fall 2021, with a start date of spring 2022. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications.

*Duties & Responsibilities:*The School of Journalism has integrated digital/mobile media throughout its curriculum, including classes in multimedia and entrepreneurial journalism, and wishes to expand opportunities for students while maintaining rigorous training in reporting, writing and ethics. The school specializes in global journalism, public affairs journalism, bilingual journalism, broadcast journalism and science/environmental journalism. Faculty, including tenured research-active faculty, have extensive professional experience and are committed to fostering a free and robust press. The school is proud to focus on journalism-regardless of medium-to empower citizens and provide them with the information they need to self-govern.

Candidates shouldhave significant professional journalistic experience in digital/broadcast/ documentaryvideo. Candidates should be enthusiastic about teaching and collaborating withother faculty. Candidates should be innovative, creative self-starters.

Finalists will be expected to present a proposal on theirvision for how we can best train students for the future of broadcaststorytelling and how to coordinate the efforts of journalism students and facultyto best serve our communities.

Finalists will also be asked to make a teaching demonstration that highlightstheir skills and abilities in video storytelling.
Responsibilities Include:

* Work with students to plan, direct, edit and publish the video, audio and multimedia work in the School of Journalism's media outlets and enter it in contests.
* Oversee the school's broadcast/podcast studio plans, equipment and operation.
* Network with professional editors and producers to place stories in outlets in Arizona and beyond.
* Instruct students in core skills courses.
* Capacity for communicating effectively with diverse constituencies on campus and outside of the university.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* Well-versed in story development and storytelling for video, multimedia and documentary on various platforms.
* Familiarity with video and broadcast equipment, including video cameras, microphones and teleprompters.
* Familiarity with editing software, including Adobe Premiere and Adobe Audition.
*Minimum Qualifications:*Candidates must have at least a B.A. in journalism or a related field, and 5 year of professional experience. They must have strong visual, editing, producing and writing skills and the capacity to communicate effectively with diverse constituencies on campus and outside of the university.
*Preferred Qualifications:*
* Master's degree in journalism or a related field.
* Previous teaching experience at the college or university level.
* Proven experience and commitment to undergraduate education.
* Fluency in Spanish.
