*Position Summary:*The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Graduate School is seeking an experienced and dynamic professional to serve as Associate Dean for Professional Development and Funding. The Associate Dean is a member of The Graduate School's senior leadership team and supports the Dean of The Graduate School in providing leadership and management toward achieving its mission and goals.
The Associate Dean for Professional Development and Funding establishes the goals and oversees implementation of professional, career development, and fellowship programs administered by The Graduate School. Working with the Assistant Dean for Graduate Student Academic & Professional Development, Director for Experiential Professional Development, Director of Fellowships, Director of the Master of Applied Professional Studies, Fellowship Programs Coordinator, and the Professional Development Coordinator, the Associate Dean will be responsible for delivering professional and career development; provide leadership and oversight for the efforts of the other team members; initiate new and innovative programs to meet the changing needs of graduate students; develop and teach credit-bearing, discipline-neutral courses in professional development; identify and recruit faculty to serve on the faculty review committees that select incoming and continuing graduate students for fellowships, assistantships and awards; chair the Fellowship Committee of the Administrative Board of the Graduate School; provide leadership for policy development, implementation and award of funding; and provide leadership for initiatives supporting graduate students who receive external fellowships and grants. The Associate Dean also works closely with the Dean in determining annual tuition remission and in state tuition allocations and represents The Graduate School on the Tuition and Fee Advisory Taskforce. The Associate Dean will support the Dean and Assistant Dean for Development & Alumni Relations by providing guidance on fundraising strategies for graduate student fellowships.

The Graduate School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill was established in 1903 and encompasses 80-plus programs offering more than 160 different graduate degrees. As a pan-university unit, The Graduate School serves approximately 8,500 doctoral and master's degree students from admission to graduation. The school administers over $35M annually to support graduate students throughout their degree programs with tuition, recruitment, dissertation research, travel, professional development and other types of support.

Successful applicants for this position should have strong experience in higher education administration, excellent communication and teamwork abilities, and a commitment to equity and inclusion.
*Educational Requirements:*Master's degree and related experience required; Doctoral degree preferred.
*Qualifications and Experience:*At least five years of higher education administration experience, ability to work both independently and on teams. Ability to interact effectively with faculty and administrators in a research university; ability to work effectively with students; integrity, sincerity, enthusiasm, and exceptional written and oral skills.
