The role

The Faculty Education team works closely with colleagues and students across the Faculty to provide high quality advice and guidance on matters relating to the student lifecycle from Registration to Graduation and beyond. The team is responsible for the student record and for maintaining the integrity of student data through the student journey. The team is also responsible for several faculty committees and the Faculty Board of Examiners.

You will work in a busy and rewarding environment to provide administrative support for the educational activities of the Faculty under the direction of the Faculty Education Manager (FEM), with supervisory support provided by the Senior Education Administrator. The post-holder will have responsibility for the delivery of the routine activities of the team as they relate to undergraduate students, with a focus on maintaining the student record, student progress activities, webpage editing, committee organisation, co-ordination of arrangements for Faculty Plagiarism & Exam Cheating Panels and committee secretary support to the Faculty Staff-Student Liaison Committee.

This role is a job share and is 14 hours per week over Thursday and Fridays.

What will you be doing?
  • Provide support to responding to routine enquiries submitted to the Faculty Education Team mailboxes by staff and students, in consultation with the Senior Education Administrator and to ensure that queries are dealt with or directed on to the most appropriate person
  • Assist with the Faculty Examination Boards and Progress Committees and carry out work that arises from them, including progress matters
  • Support colleagues in the handling of cases of plagiarism, exam cheating, complaints and appeals
  • Assist with the servicing of the Faculty Education committees, working groups and ad hoc task forces by preparing agendas and supporting papers, taking minutes and maintaining action logs
  • Maintain the student record, including data upkeep, integrity checks, amendments to student status, fee records, CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance of Study) generation and visa extensions


You should apply if
  • You have an ability to work in a busy and demanding environment, under pressure at times; to produce accurate work to deadlines, with attention to detail, handling often large amounts of data
  • You have very good written and verbal communication skills; very good interpersonal skills; sensitivity to others' points of view; ability to work well as a member of a team and to form and maintain effective and productive professional relationships
  • You are adaptable, with a flexible approach to work to meet needs of team
  • You can be discreet and protect confidentiality and have an awareness of relevant legal requirements
  • You are committed to service quality and are responsive to the needs of others (e.g. staff and students)
  • You have experience of assessing and responding to non-routine work queries and use of initiative to solve problems (or referring to line manager as appropriate)
