Post-Doctoral Research Associate Position
Regular, Full-time, Pay Grade 00
Focus: Understanding and Harnessing Robustness of Thermophiles for Conversion of Lignocellulosic Biomass into Biofuels and Biochemicals
A post-doctoral researcher position is available in Dr. Trinh's laboratory in The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. The candidate will work on a DOE-funded project that fundamentally studies robustness of thermophiles (e.g., Clostridium thermocellum, Bacillus coagulans) and engineer them as efficient and robust biocatalysts for biosynthesis of biofuels and biochemicals from lignocellulosic biomass.
This project is a collaboration between Trinh lab at The University of Tennessee Knoxville and research scientists at The Oak Ridge National Laboratory and The US Department of Agriculture. An interested candidate is expected to hold a Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering, bioengineering, biochemistry, microbiology, or related fields with a proven track record of peer-reviewed publications.
Minimum Requirements:
A PhD is required in Chemical Engineering or related field. Candidates with strong skills and backgrounds in metabolic engineering, synthetic biology, protein engineering, bacterial genetics, molecular cloning, fermentation, high-throughput screening, analytical techniques, CRISPR gene editing, metabolism, and/or bioinformatics are highly preferred.
The contract is on one-year basis and can be extended based on the research progress. All interested candidates must apply online and should attach an updated curriculum vitae and contact information for three references.
