Description
Stony Brook University School of Medicine of the State University of New York invites applications for the position of Nurse Practitioner in the division of Pulmonary.
This position serves as a healthcare professional who, under the direction and supervision of a licensed physician, will provide health care to patients. The nurse practitioner is expected to maintain and enhance a current level of knowledge relative to professional practice, as well as meet the requirements necessary for licensure and certification. The following duties will be expected:

* Collaborate with physicians throughout the consultation process and provide direct medical management to patients in the Lung Cancer Evaluation Center (LCEC).
* Serve as a resource to nursing staff and work closely with other hospital/departmental staff, follow-up on patients' status independently to ensure proper treatment.
* Keep all clinical data up-to-date in the medical record.
* Ensure daily charting of assessment and treatment is completed and dictated timely.
* Communicate patient care issues clearly to the patient care team in a way that is beneficial to the team effort.
* Quickly assist and appropriately mange emergency issues with LCEC patients.
* Interpret policies to support decision making for other healthcare professionals, attend continuing education seminars as needed.
* Other duties as assigned with may include collecting and reporting research data for departmental research activities.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Nurse Practitioner: NYS license and certification as a Nurse Practitioner. Masters degree in nursing or completion of a course for a Nurse Practitioner.
Preferred Qualifications:
At least one year of clinical experience working as a Nurse Practitioner. Previous experience working in oncology nursing. Experience in lung cancer / pulmonary diseases.
