OPPORTUNITY
Mammoth's Discovery Team is seeking a Scientist to develop CRISPR-associated (Cas) nucleases for therapeutic genome editing applications. Discovery is a cross-disciplinary team of researchers responsible for the identification, screening and optimization of novel Cas nucleases. The successful candidate will be positioned in a downstream role within the team and will be responsible for pushing Cas nucleases into pre-clinical applications. Candidates with versatile technical skill sets are preferred for this role since a wide range of experimental approaches will be required to evaluate and enhance nuclease utility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Drive projects to evaluate and optimize Cas nucleases for human-cell genome editing utility with various engineering approaches (eg. protein engineering, RNA engineering and/or vector refactoring) across different modes of delivery (eg. plasmid, AAV, mRNA, RNP)
  • Independently plan, design and execute experiments
  • Prepare protein, RNA and DNA reagents
  • Document and present experimental results at internal meetings
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • PhD in molecular biology, cell biology, synthetic biology or a related field
  • 2 years of Cas tool development experience in academia or industry
  • Ability to independently design and execute NGS assays
  • Hands-on experience with mammalian tissue culture

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3 years biotechnology industry experience
  • Demonstrated experience engineering proteins and/or RNAs rational and unbiased approaches
  • Familiarity with various methods for in vitro delivery of proteins and nucleic acids into mammalian cells.
  • Familiarity with advanced laboratory equipment (eg. automated liquid handlers, automated colony pickers, plate readers, FACS)
  • Familiarity with CRISPR-Cas literature
  • Computer and scripting skills (Benchling, Geneious, JMP, SQL, R, Python)

BENEFITS
  • Competitive salary with equity
  • Company-paid health/vision/dental benefits
  • Unlimited vacation and generous sick time
  • Free breakfast/lunch/dinner/barista
  • Free gym
  • Public transportation commuter subsidy
